Wittner to Give Glimpse into Latest Book

Utica, NY (03/10/2015) - On Wednesday, March 11, the Center for Historical Research’s (CHR) Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series will feature UC Professor David Wittner. He will give a talk titled “Why Systems Matter: A Tale of Technology Transfer in Meiji Japan.”Wittner, director of the CHR, earned his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He is a professor of East Asian history, and specializes in modern Japanese history, the history of technology and material culture studies. Wittner’s talk will give UC students a glimpse into his latest book, “Technology and the Culture of Progress in Meiji Japan,” which examines Japanese culture as well as the progression of technology in Japan during the nineteenth century.
