Utica, NY (11/17/2014) - The UC Concert Choir, directed by David Kolb, adjunct lecturer of music, will give a performance as a part of Utica College’s Fall 2014 Professor Harry F. and Mary Ruth Jackson Lunch Hour Series.

Kolb is a graduate of Hamilton College with double concentrations in music and mathematics. He has directed choirs for the Utica Maennerchor and Stone Presbyterian Church. He is currently the Director of Music for First Presbyterian Church in Rome.

Kolb is also a frequent performer in local theatrical productions and sings with the local music ensemble, Above Standards. He was a featured soloist in the production of Gian Carlo Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors” in Syracuse last December.

The Choir will be accompanied by Alane Varga on piano. She began her career at Utica College in 1983 as a counselor in the Academic Support Services. She was cofounder with Dr. Della Ferguson of the Womyn’s Resource Center at Utica College. In 2011, Varga was appointed to dean of students. She has been musically active as an accompanist in a range of venues, including community coffee houses, UC musicals and previous Lunch Hour Series performances.

The concert will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 12:30 p.m. in the Library Concourse, located in the lower level of Frank E. Gannett Memorial Library. It is free and open to the public.
