UC to Host AAUW District Conference, 100th Anniversary of Local Branch


Group Celebrates Achievements of Women, Anniversary, Welcoming Refugees

American Association of University Women to hold district conference at UC; Brindisi, Chapin, Winfield to speak

Utica, NY (09/11/2013) - The American Association of University Women (AAUW) District III Conference will take place at Utica College on Saturday, Oct. 5, marking the 100th anniversary of the AAUW Mohawk Valley branch.

The conference will feature three prominent speakers including Anthony Brindisi, New York State Assemblyman; Mary Chapin, chairwoman of the Mohawk Valley Women’s History Project; and Judy Winfield, humanitarian. According to AAUW, this special branch celebration will focus on Utica as a model for welcoming diversity through the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees.

The conference will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at Utica College’s Carbone Auditorium in the Economic Crime and Justice Cybersecurity Building. The cost is $30 ($10 for students). Register by Monday, Sept. 23; registration form is available at www.utica.edu/aauw-reg. Send a check payable to AAUW to Paulette Salamy, 315 Winchester Drive, New Hartford, NY 13413 (315-733-5301).

The AAUW District III Conference is sponsored by AAUW Mohawk Valley Branch, AAUW Utica College University Affiliate and The K. Della Ferguson Womyn’s Resource Center of Utica College.
