Utica, NY (03/17/2011) - What exactly is cybersecurity? Cryptography? Steganography? These questions and more will be answered on Wednesday, March 23 at “Cybersecurity Career Day” at Utica College when approximately 80 high school students and 10 teachers will attend a variety of demonstrations and lectures given by representatives in the different fields within cybersecurity in the Economic Crime and Justice Studies building.
Cybersecurity Career Day will feature a session by representatives of the Utica Police Department, Utica National Insurance Group and ITT Corporation, a leading defense and aerospace company in Rome providing advanced technologies, systems, and operational services for military and civil customers, on what jobs are available for graduates of the program. Members of law enforcement, defense research and financial companies will also be available to discuss any questions students have.
There will be three demonstrations for students, as well, on cryptography (the science of writing secret codes), steganography (the science of hiding information) and digital forensics. Randy Nichols, associate professor of criminal justice, Leonard Popyack, associate professor of criminal justice, and Tony Martino, adjunct instructor of criminal justice, will perform these demonstrations.
Students will also be able to sit in on a panel discussion with professors and students who will talk about the college experience.
