Utica, NY (02/04/2009) - Utica College’s FILM@UC series will screen the classic documentary Roger and Me on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. in the Macfarlane Auditorium, DePerno Hall. The screening is free and open to the public. The film chronicles filmmaker Michael Moore in his dogged quest to persuade General Motors Chairman Roger Smith to explain why, in light of record profits at the huge auto company, so many workers were losing their jobs and factories were closing, decimating Moore’s hometown of Flint, Michigan.
His observations about how companies in America changed the way they did business are eerily salient as the world now faces economic turmoil. Roger and Me is a cautionary tale which largely refutes the infamous adage that “what’s good for GM is good for the country.”
