11th Annual Children's Art Exhibit at Utica College


Utica City School District to show in Edith Langley Barrett Fine Arts Gallery

Utica, NY (01/29/2007) - The Utica City School District's 11th annual exhibition for art students and teachers will be shown in the Edith Langley Barrett Fine Arts Gallery at Utica College from Feb. 4 to March 9. This exhibit is an integral part of February’s National Art Education Month and is hosted by UC as a partner for excellence in arts and education.

The exhibit consists of artwork produced by more than 250 students and 21 art teachers from the Utica City School District in kindergarten through grade 12. The pieces featured in the exhibit will include photography, oil paintings, ceramics, sculpture, watercolors, crayon, fingerpainting, collage, and pencil drawings. The works are art class assignments, guided by NY Arts in Education Standards. In addition, one or two works from each of the art educators will be presented.

The opening reception will take place on Sunday, Feb. 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Library Concourse. Proctor High School’s road band and string ensemble will perform.

The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.
