Approval Process


Forms are approved electronically in the following order:

  • Registrar
  • Dean for Academic Assessment
  • Provost - only if the proposal includes a request for Liberal Arts Designation or additional faculty
  • Dean/School
  • Curriculum Committee
  • Faculty Senate
  • Library
  • IITS
  • Space/Facilities
  • Financial Affairs- (only if the proposal includes a request for additional resources)
  • Provost

To view the status of a proposal log in and see the 'Status' column in the Curriculum Committee Forms view. Additionally, proposers have the option to be notified by email at each step.

At every approval step, the reviewer can approve the proposal and move it to the next approver in the process for review, with or without comments, or return the proposal to the submitter with comments, requesting changes.

NOTE: if a proposer needs to update the proposal while it is in process, he or she can reach out to the approver who has the proposal currently, requesting that they disapprove the form with comments (returned for revisions.)

Once the proposer updates the submission, it can be resubmitted with comments. Proposers are encouraged to comment to expedite the reapproval process, highlighting the impact of the change. For example, if the change involves adding a library journal only, noting this in the resubmit comments will enable other approvers who are not impacted to expedite the reapproval.
