Office of Institutional Research The Office of Institutional Research at Utica College is responsible for providing administrators, faculty, and staff with requested planning information. Typical planning information includes historical and current demographic information about UC, comparisons to peer institutions, and summaries of qualitative and quantitative feedback gathered from faculty, staff, students, and alumni. This data is used for program planning and review, departmental and college-wide accreditations, and department specific projects and goals. The IR office also coordinates required college reporting to the federal Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and the New York State Education Department (NYSED), and also provides data to various prospective student college guides.
The director currently serves as the chair of the Registration Operations Committee, co-chair of the College’s Compliance Committee, and co-chair of the Student Career Outcomes Task Force. The office regularly works cooperatively with a wide range of other college offices such as the Registrar, Admissions, Student Financial Services, Graduate Studies, and Online and Extended Studies to ensure accurate data.
- Website/Factbook redesign. By the start of the Fall 2014 semester, IR will debut a newly designed website and a more user-friendly Factbook. The Factbook will become a dynamic electronic document containing more peer information and oft requested UC data.
- Student Career Outcomes Task Force. IR and Career Services directors co-chair the Student Career Outcomes Task Force, a committee designed to gather better data regarding student education and employment data after graduation.
- During the 14-15 academic year, UC will be conducting the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). Read more about NSSE and its history.
