Human Rights Law Network (HRLN) of India
HRLN is looking for Directors /Assistant Directors for its various initiatives based in Mumbai and New Delhi.
Organization Profile:
The Human Rights Law Network (HRLN), established in 1989, is a national collective of lawyers and social activists dedicated to using the legal system to advance human rights and access to justice for the poor and marginalized individuals and communities in the country. In addition to pro bono legal services and public interest litigation, HRLN engages in out of court advocacy, conducts legal workshops, investigations, publishes 'know your rights' material and participates in campaigns. In collaboration with social movements and human rights and development organizations, HRLN works with women, prisoners, dalits, workers, children, farmers, indigenous people, refugees, people affected by HIV, the homeless, religious minorities and sexuality minorities, persons with disabilities, among others.
HRLN is functional in 22 states of India.
HRLN is recruiting personnel to work the following areas:

11. Investigations, people's tribunals and monitoring of human rights violations

Scope and responsibility:
The position of Director/Assistance Director will be primarily responsible for among other things:
. Consolidate the programme at the national level and design a plan of action for state units
. Assist and conduct awareness training programmes at the state level
. Represent the organization in various forum,
. Ensure timely and effective reporting of the programme to the HRLN Core Team,
. To encourage stakeholders to file Public Interest Litigation, whenever necessary
. Participate and conduct Legal Training
. To organize judicial trainings of High Court and Supreme Court judges.
. To develop close contacts with and groups working on similar issues and work closely with them.
Qualifications:
. Degree in Law or Masters in Social Work, Law or any other relevant degree,
. Minimum 5 years of experience for Director and 3 years experience for Assistant Director as coordinator/project manager in related field preferably in a NGO/ grassroot group.
. Excellent writing and communication skills in English
. Fluency in Hindi and/or other Indian languages will be an added advantage
. Willingness to travel domestically.
. A self-motivated, articulate person capable of working without much supervision and managing multiple and competing priorities.
. Must have good networking abilities.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and comparable to similar type of organization
