Mark Ensalaco, Ph.D.Details:
I am pleased to announce that on Friday 12 January, the Academic Affairs Committee of the College of Arts at Sciences here at the University of Dayton unanimously approved a proposal to create a BA in Human Rights Studies.
The University of Dayton has had a HRS minor, and a Human Right concentration in the existing International Studies program since 1998.
The creation of a BA is of course a signficant advance in human rights education, of which we are quite proud.
The creation of the BA, in HRS reflect's this institution's committment to human dignity in the Marianist tradition of Christian Humanism.
I look forward to seeing some of you in Washingtonin February for the Fourm on the Future of Human Rights Education.
I will have more to say about the HRS curriculum at the University of Dayton at that time.
