Getting Started in Graduate Studies

Welcome to Utica College!  As a new graduate student who has accepted admission to Utica College (UC), here is a list of first steps you should take in order to be prepared for the first day of classes and ensure that you are fully enrolled.

Step One

Pay Deposit - If you have not already done so, please pay your deposit online.  This will guarantee you a spot in the academic program to which you've been accepted. Until your deposit has been received (or waived in certain circumstances) by Graduate Admissions, you will not be able proceed with next step and may miss important information.

Step Two

Activate UC Account - You may activate your UC student account (or reset a forgotten password) at any time by going to This creates the login you will need throughout your student career at Utica College.

Step Three

Set Up Student Financial Services Account - Setting up a Student Financial Services account at allows you to view your account balance and make secure payments online.

Step Four

Check UC E-mail - Use the username and password created in Step Two and log in at NOTE: All official correspondence will be sent to your UC e-mail account, and it should be checked regularly.

Step Five

Register for Courses - Register for your courses at  Log in and click the tab marked "Student Services and Financial Aid." A Help Sheet is available for online registration.

Step Six

Get Textbooks - You can buy your textbooks at the UC Bookstore or online at

- In addition to the one mentioned above in Step Four, a number of other Help Sheets are available covering a range of topics such as setting up your UC e-mail on a smartphone, using the Table of Contents feature in Word, using Reference Manager in Word, making a PDF using Office or OpenOffice, burning files to CD, and much more!

- View Mid-term and Final Grades

- View your Academic Transcript
- View your Degree Evaluation - see what courses you still need to take in order to meet your degree requirements
- View your Active Registration - including a Week-at-a-Glance calendar of your course schedule
