The sports industry programs at Utica College prepare students for a wide variety of career opportunities at professional sports organizations, private companies and non-profit organizations, juggling roles as diverse as handling marketing for professional sports organizations to advising athletes on social media practices to helping athletic organizations host successful events.

Program Options
Utica College offers a variety of programs to prepare you for a rewarding career in the sports industry.
The sports communication and public relations concentration within the Communication & Media major is designed for the person who wants to promote sports and emphasizes applying public relations skills in a sports setting. Students study the complex relationship between sports and the media, how the business of sports works, and how sports reporters craft their stories. Students also gain experience through internships at professional sports organizations and sports media outlets.
Sports Communication & Public Relations - Communication and Media
The sports journalism concentration within the Communication and Media major focuses on how to cover sports for television, websites and other digital media, magazines, and newspapers. Students learn to write and produce sports stories, study the complex relationship between sports and the media, and learn how the business of sports works. Students also gain hands-on experience through professional media internships and student media outlets.
The Bachelor of Business Administration in Sports Management is an innovative and regionally competitive program designed to meet the current demand for management graduates with knowledge specific to the sports industry. Students develop leadership skills in management, business, and public relations, preparing them for a wide range of careers in the diverse and exciting world of sports.
