Strategic Planning Underway
Dear Colleagues,
I hope you are safe, doing well, and staying warm during this latest episode of winter weather.
I want to update you on the strategic planning process that is underway. Earlier this month, I announced that we would be developing a three-year Strategic Plan and presenting it to the Board of Trustees for approval at the Board’s February meeting.
As I’ve shared with you, while this is a quick timeframe, we are in a unique position of having just gone through the rigorous investigative phase of our self-study, which replicates much of the data collection, analysis, and exploration you would do in developing a Strategic Plan. So, like I’ve said previously, we are not hurrying this process; we have, in fact, spent the past 19 months completing it.
It is not by coincidence that the plan’s strategic goals will align very closely with major themes identified and expressed in the self-study. Soon after final approval and adoption by the Board, the plan – including the goals as well as associated objectives, tactics, milestones, and benchmarks – will be rolled out in a variety of forums to the various constituencies of the University.
I am especially grateful for the time and attention that the following faculty, staff, and trustees have contributed to this process as members of the Strategic Planning Committee.
- Kelly Adams, Vice President for Presidential Affairs and Chief Communications Officer
- Michelle Boucher, Professor of Chemistry
- Ann Damiano, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
- Donna Dolansky, Professor of Practice in Accounting
- Kristin Haag, Senior Vice President for Financial Affairs and Treasurer
- Christine Kisiel, Interim Vice President for Advancement
- Kira Maddox, Director of Community, Belonging, Engagement, and Title VI
- Michelle Nunno-Evans, Associate Professor of Physical Therapy
- Luke Perry, Distinguished Professor of Political Science
- Kristin Phelps, Associate Vice President for Human Resources
- Mark Pilipczuk, Trustee
- Terri Provost Professor of Biology
- Rich Racioppa, Dean of Students
- Sara Scanga, Distinguished Professor of Biology
- Eric Sykes, Senior Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing
- Joshua White, Assistant Professor of Management
- Sharon Wise, Dean of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
- Sarah Wolle, Associate Professor of Health Studies
These individuals have been working quickly and very thoughtfully. Their focus, enthusiasm, and quality of work impress me every time we meet.
This Strategic Plan represents an important first step in defining our path forward and building a vision of where Utica University will be as we approach the completion of our first century as an institution. We have a lot to look forward to – let’s get to work.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Nesbitt
President
