The Department of Social Work prepares students to analyze the cumulative impacts of socially engineered and interpersonal trauma on human development in environmental context, and to realize equity and social justice through scholarship, advocacy, and service with oppressed, vulnerable, and marginalized populations.
Program:
The Social Work Department at Utica University oversees the Master of Social Work (MSW) program. The MSW program prepares professionals to practice clinical social work with individuals, families, and groups; to encourage post-traumatic growth and flourishing using evidence-based, recovery-oriented mental health interventions; and to serve as scholars, advocates, and leaders in communities and organizations, cultivating a more just and humane society at large.

Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (CSWE AS4M)
**The Master of Social Work (MSW) program at Utica University has been granted program candidacy status by The Council on Social Work Education (CWSE), affirming the program meets the initial criteria set by the CWSE to move forward with the accreditation process. This allows all students in the program to date to be recognized as graduating from an accredited program once the program achieves full accreditation, expected by 2024.
