Utica ranked #28 by U.S. News & World Report

Utica University continues to move upward as a Top Performer on Social Mobility, moving up two spots from the previous year in U.S. News & World Report's prestigious list of higher education institutions.

Social Mobility is the movement from one socioeconomic level to another.

Economically disadvantaged students are less likely to complete college and earn a degree, but, according to U.S. News & World Report, some colleges are more successful at advancing the social mobility of their students.

Utica enrolls and graduates large proportions of disadvantaged students who receive federal Pell Grants. The vast majority of these grants are awarded to students whose adjusted gross family incomes are under $50,000. More than 95% of Utica students receive some form of financial aid through the college.

On the list of more than 170 schools, Utica is ranked #28.

Utica has a long history of serving first-generation college students; the college was founded in 1946 to assist veterans returning from World War II.
