Utica College Inter-Greek Council Presents Check to MVCAA

This fall, the Inter-Greek Council (IGC) at Utica College teamed up to raise money for the Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency (MVCAA), presenting a check for $525 to MVCAA Executive Director Amy Turner.
The organizations involved with this fundraising effort are: Theta Phi Alpha, Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Chi Beta Sigma, Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Kappa Delta Phi NAS, Alpha Phi Delta, Phi Beta Sigma, Lambda Sigma Upsilon and Phi Iota Alpha. The 124 members of the Inter-Greek Council participated in various fundraising events including bake sales, “pie a member,” raffles and more.
For more than 50 years, the MVCAA has been the front-line resource for people living in poverty in Oneida and Herkimer Counties, providing direct services and support for education, employment and family support services. Whether a client was raised in poverty or they suddenly find themselves in dire straits due to unemployment, disability or a change in household, the MVCAA provides a helping hand for anyone seeking assistance. By aiding people in poverty to follow a clear path to improvement, the agency provides hope for a better tomorrow for those in the community who need it the most.
The money raised through the students’ fundraising represents an unrestricted gift to MVCAA, so the organization can use the funds wherever the need is greatest - youth programs, homeless or at risk individuals, child development programs and the many other services they offer to those in need.
