Occupational Therapy Field Experience in the Dominican Republic

Experience the Dominican Republic

Occupational Therapy Field Experience

Nov 30 - Dec 11, 2020

You will travel to the Dominican Republic for 12 days hosted by the Rehabilitation Centers of Dominican Republic (ADR). While in the Dominican Republic, you will have an opportunity to work in the rehabilitation center, a children's hospital, a nursing home, sub-centers throughout the DR and at multiple orphanages. You will work with children from 0-21 years of age and some adults by providing educational sessions in content related to the occupational therapy practice. This once-in-a-lifetime experience allows you to conduct field work in a global setting, to learn about a new culture and to provide yourself with a more diverse context of practice in your chosen profession.

Student Requirements:

  1. Be in good academic standing as a second year or higher OT student.
  2. Attend all student meetings prior to trip.
  3. Approval from program faculty and enrollment in OCT633.
  4. Adhere to Code of Conduct: "be respectful at all times to self, others, college and community."
** Attendees will wear scrubs while in the clinics, sub centers, hospital, and orphanages. Closed toed shoes and UC name tags are also required for these settings.
