What is New Student Orientation (NSO)?
New Student Orientation is a 4-day program that will help you prepare - academically, socially, financially, and personally - for all that Utica College has to offer when you arrive on campus this fall. When is NSO?
New Student Orientation begins Thursday, August 29th and runs until Sunday, September 1st. Classes begin on Monday, September 2nd. Residential students will Check-In to NSO as they arrive to their Residence Hall, Commuter Students will Check- In between 1:00pm and 3:00pm at the Welcome Center. What will I do at NSO?
NSO is intended to be informative and FUN! You will be introduced to the resources needed to be a successful student at Utica College. You will meet new friends, learn UC traditions, and discover how to get involved.
Can my parents/family come to NSO?
Definitely! We will have a special program for your parents on Day 1 while you are busy with Orientation. Please encourage them to attend. We are ready to address all of their questions and concerns. There’s also a Parent Dinner on Night 1 in Utica they can attend.
How do I register for NSO?
You’ll receive a notification via your UC email letting you know when registration for New Student Orientation is up! You’ll register through www.utica.edu/orientation
Do I have to attend every NSO session on the schedule?
Yes. Our team is working hard to provide you a fun, informative and exciting event to make sure you’re ready to start UC on the right foot. You’ll hear from really important offices, meet 1 on 1 with your academic advisor, meet your classmates- and much more! Plus, there’s some really awesome nighttime activities planned!
How and when do I register for classes?
No worries, we are taking care of your first semester schedule for you! Based on your major and placement scores, we’ll put you in all the right courses. You’ll be receiving a notification via your UC email in July when your schedule is ready to view.
