State Authorizations for Distance Learning: MHA

Utica University is required to seek approval to offer distance education (online) programs in most states in the country. As these regulations are continuously evolving, Utica University makes every effort to maintain compliance and is working with each state to gain the appropriate authorization for each of our programs.

Utica University is authorized to operate in all states that participate in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for institutional participation was granted on January 4th, 2017.

Nursing Home Administration Licensure

Consistent with state and federal regulations, colleges preparing students for professions involving certification or licensure must disclose if programs that could potentially lead to certification or licensure meet the requirements of each state’s licensing requirements.

Nursing Home Administrator Certificate

The Utica University Nursing Home Administration Certificate fulfills the academic requirements for licensure in New York State. Specific courses within the Master of Health Administration program also satisfy the academic requirements for licensure in New York State.

The web page with links to state licensing boards and state certification requirements is available below. Please ensure that you check the certification or licensing requirements for your proposed profession in the state in which you intend to seek licensure or certification.

Master of Social Work Licensure

Professional licensure or certification may be required to practice, advance, or specialize in social work. The Utica University Online MSW program is registered in NYS, so it is designed to prepare students to apply for applicable licensure or certification in accordance with New York educational requirements for licensure. The program may also fulfill educational requirements for licensure in other states.
