Data Insights: Building a Data-Driven Culture
Join Professor of Data Science Dr. Michael McCarthy and UC M.S. Data Science grad Joseph Schmit ‘19, a Senior Data Scientist at the professional photography company Lifetouch (whose parent company is Shutterfly), at 2 p.m. on May 26 for a virtual discussion on creating a data-driven culture within his industry.
At Lifetouch/Shutterfly, Joseph uses data science to create regression models for business performance and demand planning for manufacturing, classification models for account quality and management strategy, fulfilling analytics needs, and promoting the data science culture.
Joseph has previously worked with the United States Fish and Wildlife service, performing wildlife population modeling and data collection/management/preparation for regression modeling.
Enjoying the outdoors, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, skiing, and canoeing, he currently lives in Minnesota with his wife and 7-month old son.
