Utica College Professor Awarded Certified Fraud Examiner Credential

Bernie Hyman Credentialed by World’s Largest Anti-Fraud Organization

Bernard Hyman, professor of practice of fraud and financial crime investigation at Utica College, was awarded the Certified Fraud Examiner credential by The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) is the world’s largest anti-fraud organization and leading provider of anti-fraud training and education. With nearly 85,000 members, the ACFE reduces business fraud worldwide and inspires public confidence in the integrity and objectivity within the profession.

Hyman earned his bachelor's degree from Utica College and his juris doctorate degree from Syracuse University College of Law. From 1999 to 2017, Hyman worked as a prosecutor of the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office. In 2017, he became executive director of the Economic Crime and Cybersecurity Institute at Utica College. Hyman is also the owner of Hyman Legal and Consulting Services, which offers anti-fraud consulting services to local and regional businesses. Hyman was a founding member of the Oneida County District Attorney's Economic Crime Bureau.

Hyman was awarded this credential for his extraordinary demonstration of knowledge in the four critical areas in fighting against fraud: fraudulent financial transactions, fraud prevention and deterrence, legal elements of fraud and fraud investigation.
