Get to Know: Katie Williamson '03

Meet Katie Williamson '03, member of the Metro NYC Regional Alumni Network.

Current job title: Stay-at-home mom of three

Graduation year: 2003

Major: Therapeutic Recreation

Favorite class: Music History. The only class I ever took with my husband, Greg Williamson '03.

Favorite professor: Professor Joseph, TR Department

Favorite UC memory: All the memories I have from the swim team. The team and staff were a big part of my life at UC. The lifelong friendships I made, lessons I learned, the goals I accomplished, and endless laughs.

Song that reminds you of your UC days: Eagle Eye Cherry. I fell upon it by accident and found it helped me focus before a big race. I would use my CD player and headphones to block out all the distractions on the pool deck.

First job out of college: Director of Therapeutic Recreation Department at Seneca Falls Rehabilitation Center

Most valuable lesson you learned at UC: You need to work hard to achieve your dreams and make sure it is something you love, so you can enjoy the journey, there is no going back.

Best tip for young alumni starting their careers: Learn from every experience and everyone you meet. Never stop learning.

Tell me a bit about your family: My husband, Greg is also a UC grad of 2003. We met on the UC swim team 20 years ago. We have 3 girls, Ava (10) loves animals, lacrosse and triathlons. Siena (8) loves hockey and triathlons and Nora (5) loves soccer and basketball. We all love to be together on the lake during the summer.

What are you most looking to gain from your membership in the Metro NYC Regional Alumni Network? As I look at going back to work after staying home with my children for 8 years, I look forward to networking and taking every opportunity to learn something from everyone I meet. I also look forward to connecting alumni with current students in their field to give students an opportunity to learn from those who have been in their shoes.
