Young Scholars to Host Book Fair Fundraiser

Young Scholars to host holiday fundraiser


Utica, NY (11/19/2015)
- The Young Scholars Program LPP at Utica College will host its annual book fair on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble located on Commercial Drive in New Hartford.

Plan to stop by to get the holiday season started with entertainment, activities, raffles, prizes, music and more! 

Big Frog radio station will be on site from 3 to 4 p.m.  The Frozen Princesses will be available for face paintings and airbrush tattoos from 2 to 4 p.m. Attendees can participate in raffles for the chance to win a Nook or a UC hooded sweatshirt. There will also be a story hour for children, an adult coloring station, a science demonstration, a creative writing activity and holiday carols sung throughout the day.

There will be a variety of fundraisers at the event. Attendees can order cheesecake and other desserts, available for pick up that day or through the end of December. Cheesecake flavors include Godiva double chocolate, red velvet and plain. Other treats included gooey chocolate caramel tarts and apple crumble pies.

The Young Scholars will get everyone in the holiday spirit by singing carols and gift-wrapping from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Young Scholars Program LPP is a multi-year collaborative project established in 1993 between Utica College and the Utica City School District (UCSD). This program was designed to motivate diverse and talented students to stay in school, earn a New York State Regents diploma with advanced designation and to graduate college and career ready.
