Dr. Luke Perry receives Harold T. Clark award

Professor of Government and Politics Dr. Luke Perry honored.
Luke Perry, professor of government and politics and director of UC’s Center for Public Affairs, was the 2018 recipient of the Harold T. Clark Jr. Award. Perry, who has published three books and is working on a fourth, was lauded by one nominee as “one of the most prolific researchers, publishers, and scholars UC has ever seen.”
As one nominator noted, Perry "has become a nationally-recognized scholar in his specialty - religion and politics in the U.S. - and has had pieces in The New York Times and the Washington Post." Another nomination said "His light burns so strongly that it illuminates his own work, as well as that of his colleagues, his students, and his institution." We couldn't agree more.
Named for Harold "Tom" Clark, this award is given annually to a professor at Utica College who exemplifies the highest traditions of scholarship. A 1965 graduate of Utica College, Tom Clark is a former member of the UC Foundation, and past chairman of the UC Board of Trustees. He endowed the fund for the purpose of recognizing and encouraging faculty creative accomplishments.
The honor was presented to Dr. Perry by Provost Todd Pfannestiel at UC’s Faculty Research Day in November.
