Utica, NY (11/04/2013) - On Wednesday, Nov. 20, the UC History Club Herodotus and the Pre-Law Society present “The Liberal Legacy of the Barbarian West” as told by Dr. Christopher Hill, Frank Bergmann Lecturer on Law and Liberty at Alexander Hamilton Institute. The lecture will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Carbone Family Auditorium in the Economic Crime, Justice Studies and Cybersecurity Building.
Why are we free, and why do we care so much? Where does this idea come from? Hill will discuss these questions how the idea of liberal philosophy is not just from the Enlightenment, but also from a time much earlier. The barbarous time provided a glimpse of the first embrace of the concept of freedom, and is one of the great social and political accidents in the history of humanity.
The lecture is free and open to the public. This presentation, originally scheduled for Nov. 6, was postponed due to speaker illness. Nov. 20 is the new date.
