Friday is "Move-In" Day for New Students

Freshmen, Transfers Come to Campus

Utica, NY (08/21/2014) - You can see a lot of suitcases, boxes and bags at Utica College this Friday.

Approximately 475 freshman and transfer students will move in to the residence halls on Friday, Aug. 22, “Move-In Day.” Another 235 new students are expected to join them next week as classes begin.

Many groups from the UC community will be on site to help students with the moving in process, including faculty, staff, athletic teams, and several clubs and organizations.

Returning students will then be welcomed in on Sunday, Aug. 24. 

Move-In Day will also mark the start of Welcome Week, a jam-packed week of events to make incoming students feel at home.

On Sunday a large, inflatable movie screen in the residential quad will feature a "Just Dance" competition and a “drive-in” movie. On Monday, students can participate in bookstore bingo in the Strebel Student Lounge. Tuesday will feature “Minute to Win it” in the Strebel Student Lounge. On Wednesday afternoon, students can have fun with the “Drop Zone Stunt Jump” and other food and prizes on Strebel Lawn, and in the evening, comedian Brian O'Sullivan will perform in the Pioneer Pub. Thursday will offer a “Thinkfast Gameshow” in Strebel Lounge, and Friday will feature the Annual Welcome Week Glow Dance Party on the Strebel Lawn. Finally, on Saturday, there will be a bus to Syracuse for the Great New York State Fair.
