Utica, NY (09/01/2011) - The Central N.Y. Watercolor Society will open the Edith Langley Barrett Fine Art Gallery 2011 – 2012 exhibits at Utica College. The Central N.Y. Watercolor Society Juried Members Exhibit opens Monday, Sept. 5 and will run through Sept. 24. There will be an artists’ reception and demo night on Friday, Sept. 23, 6 to 8:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Director of the art gallery Carolynne Whitefeather said that it is a “must see” exhibit because the Watercolor Society is only featured at the college once every three years. The show presents juried works by both signature and associate members.
“It’s incredible art, they’re amazing artists,” Whitefeather said. “They participate at competitions at all levels.”
Whitefeather said that the artists’ reception and the demo night, typically two separate events, are on the same night because the artists are from all over the state and requested that the events made to be into the same day.
“This year’s event will be held in conjunction with Demo Night, the society’s gift to the public and fellow artists,” Whitefeather said. “Outside the gallery, in the Library Concourse, eight organization members will demonstrate their respective techniques and styles, revealing some of the secrets that make their work so outstanding.”
The Edith Langley Barrett Fine Art Gallery is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and open from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
