Kunath to be UC Commencement Speaker

Author, Team Owner, Businessperson of Year to Speak at May 13 Commencement

Utica, NY (04/22/2011) - Successful businessman and author Gary Kunath will be the speaker at the 62nd Commencement Ceremony on May 15 at 11 a.m. at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

After graduating from Utica College in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in business management, Kunath founded The Summit Group, a company is world-renowned in the area of training clients in collaborative customer planning, sales and marketing integration, and partnership and alliance development.

A frequent lecturer at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, Emory University Business School and Cornell’s Johnson Graduate school of Management, Kunath was named Businessman of the Year in 2008, an honor that was recognized at a dinner hosted by former President George W. Bush.

Kunath is also a contributing author of two books, “Unlocking Profits” and “The Trust Imperative,” and co-owns several professional baseball teams. He has served as a member of the Utica College Board of Trustees since 2005.

Kunath earned an associate’s degree in applied science from Mohawk Valley Community College and a master’s degree in organizational development from State University of New York at Binghamton. He is also a 1990 graduate of Duke University’s Executive Development Program.
