Utica, NY (09/01/2009) - Suzanne Lynch, a graduate of Utica College’s economic crime management master’s program and a visiting instructor of criminal justice, has been appointed assistant executive director of the Economic Crime Institute (ECI) of Utica College.
Lynch, who holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Wayne State University, graduated from the economic crime management program in 2002. She has been teaching since 2003 at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, full time since January 2008.

George Curtis, dean of business and justice studies and executive director of ECI, noted the depth of Lynch’s experience. “Sue has considerable experience in the fraud space, having worked in the payment system fraud and risk area with MasterCard Worldwide and also with Goldman Sachs.”

Lynch’s new duties include working on the national ECI conference that Utica College hosts each year. She is particularly excited about this year’s conference, “Extraordinary Circumstances: Combating Fraud and Corruption in Hard Times.” The event will feature two keynote speakers: author and WorldCom whistleblower Cynthia Cooper, CPA, CFE; and director of the financial integrity unit at Microsoft Corporation and member of the ECI board of advisors Martin T. Biegelman, CFE, CCEP.

Utica College, a pioneer in economic crime education for more than two decades, is also home to the Center for Identity Management and Information Protection (CIMIP), which has garnered national attention for its groundbreaking research. The Economic Crime Institute, established in 1988, spearheaded UC’s economic crime master’s degree program and the launch of CIMIP.

The conference, well known for its diverse topics and all-inclusive pricing, will be held at The Bolger Center in Potomac, Md. Oct. 20-22. For more information, visit www.utica.edu/eciconference.
