ILL Services for Distance Students
UC Library provides the ILL Article Request service to our Distance students and faculty.
ILL Article Request Service
Current UC distance education students and faculty may use our ILL Article Request service free of charge
What is ILL Article Request Service?
We send you copies of journal articles that appear in:
- Journals that UC Library holds in print and microform
- Journals that UC Library does not own in our print, microform or electronic collection
How to Use ILL Article Request Service
Obtain a journal article citation
Check to see if the journal article you need is available full text online:
- If the volume and issue you need are available, select the link and gain access to the full text article online
On the ILL Article Request form
- Select your status
- Indicate that your location is Off campus
- Tell us whether you prefer to receive the article as a PDF email attachment or through the US Mail
Why do I have to use my UC Email?
- Whenever possible, we prefer to deliver article requests as a PDF email attachment
- To ensure successful communication and document delivery, UC Library sends all official communication to your Utica College email account
About Your UC Email Account
- We appreciate your desire to use alternate email accounts but UC Library sends all official communication to your UC email account
- If you prefer to use an alternate primary email account, we recommend forwarding your UC Email to that account
- Your UC Email account is different from email in WebCT
- Due to account restrictions, we cannot to deliver ILL Article Requests through WebCT

ILL Book Request Service
UC Library does not currently extend InterLibrary Loan (ILL) Book Request service to our distance education students and faculty.
Alternative Solutions
Public Libraries
- Many public libraries provide InterLibrary Loan services to patrons
- Use PublicLibraries.com to find a local library near you
Local College or University Libraries
While most college or university libraries do not extend ILL services to those not affiliated with their Institution, they do allow community members to:
- Use library materials on the premisis
- Some libraries might offer library cards to community members that allow you to borrow materials
- Make use of research and/or reference services
