Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony

Students completing one of the following degrees are eligible to participate in the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony:
- Bachelor of Arts
- Bachelor of Science

DATE:  Sunday, May 17, 2015

TIME: 9:30 a.m.

NOTE:  Students participating in the ceremony MUST arrive at the venue no later than 9:00 a.m.

LOCATION:  Utica Memorial Auditorium, 400 Oriskany Street West, Utica NY 13502

  • "Graduation" is an academic process that involves the official conferral of your Bachelor's degree. It involves a careful review of your academic record and approval by the College. This happens every May, August, and December.
  • "Commencement" is the annual ceremony where we celebrate our achievements and recognize our degree candidates. This happens once each year, in May.


In order to participate in the May 2015 commencement ceremony, students must have applied for a May, August, or December 2015 degree by the March 15, 2015 deadline.

DO NOT apply for a May degree just because you wish to participate in commencement. August and December graduates are welcome to participate in commencement with NO special approval required.

The December 2015 degree application will be turned on in February 2015. 


Just follow the instructions listed below:
  1. APPLY FOR YOUR DEGREE no later than March 15**:

    • If you graduated on December 29, 2014, you have already completed this step. 
    • If you will complete ALL degree requirements (including all courses, student teaching, or internship) by the end of the SPRING term, apply for a MAY degree.
    • If you will complete ALL degree requirements (including all courses, student teaching, or internship) by the end of the SUMMER term, apply for an AUGUST degree.
    • If you will complete ALL degree requirements (including all courses, student teaching, or internship) by the end of the FALL term, apply for a DECEMBER degree
      • IMPORTANT NOTE: December 2015 grads must fill out the additional Permission to Walk form no later than March 25. Failure to fill out this additional form will result in your name being omitted from the commencement program and your hometown newspaper not being notified.
  2. Submit the

    Commencement Participation Form

    no later than April 30. 

    Failure to RSVP by the April 30 deadline means that a student will NOT be allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony.  
    • NOTE: If you plan on ordering an optional stole, the deadline to submit the Commencement Participation form is March 13, 2015. 
    • NOTE: If you plan on ordering a Nursing Pin (which is completely optional), the deadlines are as follows: ABSN students must order by March 9, 2015. All other Nursing students must order by March 23, 2015.
    • Regalia (caps and gowns, stoles, and Nursing Pins) ordering is managed through the College bookstore.

  • Parking at and around the Auditorium is very limited, and the cost of parking in the Aud parking lot is $5 per car. 
  • Commencement graduates and their guests are strongly encouraged to use the complimentary shuttle service to and from the Utica Memorial Auditorium in order to avoid expected parking congestion and parking fees. 
  • Buses will leave every few minutes from the circle in front of the Strebel Student Center on campus, beginning at 8:00 a.m., and will return to campus following the ceremony. 
  • The LAST BUS to the Auditorium will leave Utica College at 9:15 a.m.
There will be a light reception immediately following the commencement ceremony on the campus of Utica College.

**: Submitting the degree application form after March 15 will result in your name not being printed in the commencement program. You will still be permitted to participate and your name will be called when you walk across the stage, but the program will have already been sent to print.
