2011 Graduate Student Commencement Information

When is Commencement?

The 2011 Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 15 at the Utica Memorial Auditorium:

- Transportation to Commencement Ceremony: For those who do not wish to use private transportation, free buses are available to bring graduates and their guests from Utica College to the site of the Commencement Ceremony. It is strongly recommended that all graduates and guests use the free buses, as there is very little parking at the Utica Auditorium.  Buses will leave every few minutes from the circle in front of Strebel Student Center, starting at 9:30-10:30 a.m. and will return there following the ceremony.  Parking at the Auditorium will be $5.00.

- Commencement Rehearsal:  Saturday, May 14th at 11:30 a.m. in the Strebel Auditorium.

- Commencement Ceremony: The Commencement Ceremony will begin Sunday, May 15 at 11:00 a.m. sharp in the Utica Memorial Auditorium, Oriskany Boulevard, Utica. The Auditorium is located just west of Genesee Street, the main thoroughfare through the City of Utica.

The Utica Memorial Auditorium seats several thousand, so there is room for as many people as you care to invite.

**Please note that all graduate students will be hooded at commencement.  There will be no separate hooding ceremony.**

Where May I Obtain My Cap & Gown?

Caps and gowns are provided by the College.  They may be picked up in the Student Activities Office on the first floor of the Strebel Student Center as soon as they arrive in mid-April.  Office hours are 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. daily.  They may also be picked up on the morning of Commencement between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

May I Take Photographs?

You and your guests are welcome to take as many photographs at the Commencement Ceremonies as you like, but guests will not be allowed on the Auditorium floor level for any reason. There will be a professional photographer at the Utica Memorial Auditorium to take photographs of all graduates as they receive their degrees. Within ten days you will receive a proof in the mail. There is no obligation whatever to order copies of these photos, but if you choose to do so just follow the instructions on the card enclosed with the proofs.
