It was an amazing day this past weekend for Utica College’s Gay/Straight Alliance because we were recognized as the Organization of the Year at the Student Recognition Brunch and had our Second Annual Drag Show Sunday, April 18th.
Last year was the first year the GSA really started to make their mark on campus. With Ally Week, our first Drag Show, “Mom, Dad, I’m Gay,” and Take Back Your Prom last year, we have come a long way since my freshman year. I am so proud to be apart of this organization and am so excited to see what else we will do in future.
The doors opened at 5:30 and students came pouring in. We were selling t-shirts, taking donations, and were giving away condoms, lube, and informational pamphlets. Makenzie Taylor and our beloved Bee’ Uh BombChelle were our hosts who without a doubt kept the audience entertained. Our kings and queens were amazing and the crowd loved them. I am so thankful that they were able to make it and hope that they are able to return next year.
What is a drag show without pictures….
