|Description|| Development of a screening tool for overhead collegiate athletes who are at risk of shoulder girdle injury
Shoulder injuries such as tendon inflammation, shoulder instability, and cartilage tears are common in collegiate overhead athletes. Currently there is no comprehensive, reliable, and valid established screening tool for predicting those at risk of injury in this population. As part of their research, Professors Schilling and Elazzazi are developing a screening tool that aims to identify impairments of overhead athletes that may be associated with increased future risk of injury. This knowledge will allow healthcare practitioners to devise evaluative and therapeutic procedures that may help in the prevention of shoulder injuries among collegiate athletes.
Nexus is a seminar series presented by Utica College faculty in which they discuss their research interests and scholarly pursuits. It is an opportunity for participants to explore new findings and viewpoints and share ideas with faculty, students, and the local community.
