Rebuilding and Reflecting in the Catskills: One Year After Irene & Lee

Rebuilding and Reflecting in the Catskills: One Year After Irene & Lee On Sunday, August 28, 2011, Hurricane Irene arrived in the Northern Catskill Mountains leaving a wave of destruction as never before. Tropical Storm Lee arrived on September 8th. Homes and businesses were demolished; roads and bridges washed away, and crops were wiped out at harvest time in what some have labeled a "500 year event." One year after the devastating floods that were a result of the storms, Professor Hallock explores perspectives on the year past and shares how lives have changed, or remained the same, in the Catskill region. About Geotalk All lectures are held in Willard Conference Room, DePerno Hall unless otherwise noted. Refreshments are served at 2:15 p.m.; lectures begin at 2:30 p.m. Call (315) 792-3059 for more information.
