ALUMNI
Utica College’s 18,000 alumni come from a broad range of social, cultural, and economic backgrounds. They include entrepreneurs, inventors, and adventurers; doctors, lawyers, and judges; CEOs, journalists, teachers, and legislators. Diverse as they are, a common thread unites them: without UC, many would never have had the opportunity to earn a degree from a highly regarded private college.
In a recent alumni survey by Carnegie Communications, more than 80 percent of alumni reported that they perceive the College’s growth and expansion to be beneficial to UC’s future and are willing to support the College in a variety of ways. Many remember UC as the starting point in their careers and the setting for memorable life experiences, both personal and professional.
LOCAL BUSINESS AND POLITICAL LEADERS
These engaged stakeholders also recognize Utica College as a full-scale cultural, economic, and civic resource that benefits the entire region. They view UC as a “people pump,” bringing educated, trained, and qualified professionals to the region. Fully one-third of all UC graduates stay in the Utica-Rome area, contributing to its revitalization. Many community and business leaders, some of whom are UC graduates, remain strongly connected to the College through initiatives like the Young Scholars Liberty Partnerships Program, student fieldwork and internships, athletic programs, and valued relationships with faculty and staff.
FACULTY AND STAFF
The committed professionals who have chosen to become part of the Utica College family are highly motivated campus participants who pride themselves on their service to community and students as well as their scholarly endeavors. They also serve as key points of contact for alumni and friends of the College.
The story of Utica College has always been about the transformative power of higher learning and the institution’s continuing capacity – with the support of alumni, faculty/staff, friends, and community – to renew the essential promise of UC for each succeeding generation. From the founding of the College, to the construction of the permanent campus, to the extremely successful completion of the most recent capital campaign (1994-1999), the College’s key constituencies have always answered the call, making it possible for UC to meet historic challenges such as those it now faces.
