Assistance with planning and developing award proposals


G rants play an important role in advancing Utica College’s mission and educational priorities. The Office of Corporate, Foundation, and Government Partnerships (OCFGP) coordinates grant-seeking from corporations and businesses, private foundations, and state and federal government sources.

Grant awards may support a range of initiatives, such as new and innovative curricula; faculty and student research; the acquisition of new equipment; building renovation and capital improvements; scholarships; and projects that benefit the College and the community.

The OCFGP can support faculty and staff by helping to ensure that grant proposals are well planned, support the College’s educational mission, reflect a high standard of quality, and are consistent with granting agency and other applicable guidelines.

The OCFGP can assist with:

  • research to identify funding sources
  • help with proposal planning and development
  • developing budgets
  • review of proposal drafts and supplementary information
  • proposal submission
  • acknowledging the award
  • coordination with Marketing and Communication to publicize awards

UC Awarded Grant from The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, Inc.

Grant to Support the Gordon Science Center Capital Project

Renovation project to continue this summer

- Utica College has been awarded an $80,000 grant from The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, Inc., to support the Gordon Science Center Capital Project.
This grant is from the Rosamond G. Childs Fund, the Frank W. Baker Fund and the Albert S. Mazloom Family Fund.

The Community Foundation, established in 1952, has made more than 4,300 grants totaling over $34.3 million in support of causes ranging from education to health care, the arts to the environment. Grants are generated by more than 270 funds that comprise The Foundation’s endowment, established and advanced by area individuals and families.
Specifically, the grant will be used to modernize and renovate research and teaching laboratory space in the Gordon Science Center during summer 2012.

Todd S. Hutton, Ph.D., Utica College president, believes this grant will go a long way toward improving the institution’s programs, as well as students’ learning experiences.

“The modernized Gordon Science Center will undoubtedly positively affect students and faculty,” said Hutton. “The multi-year project will dramatically improve all aspects of science instruction and better support the college’s science and health-related programs in both quality and variety of research and educational experiences. We are grateful to The Community Foundation for its generous support, which will help advance our efforts to create an optimal environment for research, teaching and learning science at Utica College.

These renovations are expected to begin after classes end in May to minimize disruptions to students and faculty.

The College, located in upstate central New York, approximately 90 miles west of Albany and 50 miles east of Syracuse, currently enrolls over 3,700 students in 37 undergraduate majors, 27 minors, 22 master’s and two doctoral degree programs.
