How To Apply - Transfer Admissions

Applying To UC

Transfer Credit

Transfer credit is awarded for all courses taken at a regionally accredited college that are:

  • equivalent to those taught at Utica College, and
  • for which you received a grade of "C" or better.

Transcript evaluation

You will receive an evaluation of transfer credit from the Registrar's Office shortly after you receive your letter of admission.
  • If you have accumulated 30 credit hours, you will be evaluated on the basis of your college transcripts and need not submit high school transcripts unless you wish to do so.
  • If you are entering with an associate's degree or transferring a minimum of 57 credits from a four-year college, your general educational requirements are considered complete.

Early Decision vs. Early Action

When applying to Utica College, you have options when it comes to how and when you apply...and this may have different implications based on the method you choose. Take a look at a few of the terms and application options below to determine which is the best fit for you!

Early Decision plans are binding — a student who is accepted as an early decision applicant must attend the college.

Early action plans are nonbinding — students receive an early response to their application but do not have to commit to the college until the normal reply date of May 1.

Early Decisions applicants:
  • Apply by November 1st to Utica College.
  • Receive an admission decision by December 15th.
  • Agree to attend the college if accepted and offered a financial aid package that is considered adequate by the family.
  • Apply to only one college early decision.
  • Apply to other colleges under regular admission plans.
  • Withdraw all other applications if accepted by ED.
  • Send a non-refundable deposit by January 7.
Early Action applicants:
  • Apply by November 15th to Utica College.
  • Receive an admission decision by December 31st.
  • Consider acceptance offer; do not have to commit upon receipt.
  • Apply to other colleges under regular admission plans.
  • Give the college a decision no later than the May 1 national response date.

Admissions Requirements

Freshman applicants should...

  • complete at least 16 units of secondary school credit and
  • receive a diploma from an accredited secondary school.

It is recommended that students follow a college preparatory program that includes:

  • at least four units of study in English,
  • three units in social studies,
  • three units in mathematics,
  • three units in science, and
  • two in a foreign language.

Equivalency diplomas

Applicants submitting a high school equivalency diploma are not required to have completed 16 secondary school units; however, they must have earned equivalency scores that indicate adequate preparation for college level work.
