How To Apply For Admission

Applying To UC

When To Apply

Utica College uses rolling admissions: applications will be accepted until programs are filled. We encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible. Decisions are mailed within 2-3 weeks of a completed application for admission.

Since many programs will be fully enrolled by March, you are encouraged to apply by January 15. Deposit deadline is May 1 or 20 days from the date of admission, whichever is later.

  • Apply no later than December 15 if you plan to start in the January term.
  • Apply by February 1 to be considered for our nursing program.
  • Apply by March 1 for HEOP eligibility.

Early Decision vs. Early Action

When applying to Utica College, you have options when it comes to how and when you apply...and this may have different implications based on the method you choose. Take a look at a few of the terms and application options below to determine which is the best fit for you!

Early Decision plans are binding — a student who is accepted as an early decision applicant must attend the college.

Early action plans are nonbinding — students receive an early response to their application but do not have to commit to the college until the normal reply date of May 1.

Early Decisions applicants:
  • Apply by November 15 to Utica College.
  • Receive an admission decision by December 15th.
  • Agree to attend the college if accepted and offered a financial aid package that is considered adequate by the family.
  • Apply to only one college early decision.
  • Apply to other colleges under regular admission plans.
  • Withdraw all other applications if accepted by ED.
  • Send a non-refundable deposit by January 8.
Early Action applicants:
  • Apply by November 15th to Utica College.
  • Receive an admission decision by December 15.
  • Consider acceptance offer; do not have to commit upon receipt.
  • Apply to other colleges under regular admission plans.
  • Give the college a decision no later than the May 1 national response date.

Admissions Requirements

Freshman applicants should...

  • complete at least 16 units of secondary school credit and
  • receive a diploma from an accredited secondary school.

It is recommended that students follow a college preparatory program that includes:

  • at least four units of study in English,
  • three units in social studies,
  • three units in mathematics,
  • three units in science, and
  • two in a foreign language.

Equivalency diplomas

Applicants submitting a high school equivalency diploma are not required to have completed 16 secondary school units; however, they must have earned equivalency scores that indicate adequate preparation for college level work.
