Biography
Cheri Sandford is an assistant professor in the Education Department at Utica College and teaches courses in the sociological and legal foundations of special education, planning for diverse student needs, assessment of students with special needs, and special education curriculum and methods for childhood, adolescence, and severe disabilities. Her research interests include teacher training and professional development for instructing students with moderate to severe disabilities and post-secondary outcomes for individuals with developmental disabilities. She is currently active in the disability community through the Kelberman Center in Utica.
Dr. Sandford received her Ph.D. in Education from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, her Master of Arts degree in Education from Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware, and dual Bachelor of Science in Education degrees in elementary and special education from the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware.
