Buddy Walk Reminder!

The 14th annual Buddy Walk is a 1-mile Down Syndrome Awareness event that will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 4th at Hanna Part.
  • The Buddy Walk promotes the acceptance & inclusion of all people with Down Syndrome, and provides an opportunity to understand, appreciate and see these individuals as able, unique, gifted & diverse.

  • We will have a messy media table set up and would like to have as many club members involved as possible.

  • We are asking members from past years to wear the Psych Child Life shirts if possible & new members to wear an apparel affiliated with Utica College.

  •  Car pooling will be coordinated; please let Sierra, Kaitlyn or Sonja know if you need a ride to the event.

  •   $1 donations would be appreciated from participants.

Interested in t-shirts/sweatshirts?

We are still in the process of finalizing the design, color and price of shirts. Look for definite prices and designs at next week's meeting.

           Fundraiser Ideas

  • Tie-die shirts - "Just Play" with "UC" logo on the back (still needs to be finalized)
  • **Bakesale** around Halloween time, most likely on a Tuesday night from 5-9:30
  • Bake sale at Walmart
  • Volunteers to bake/work the bakesales will be needed so please keep these in mind!

  St Baldrick's Day Concerns

  • Committees are being formed to help involve the campus community on a greater level this year. This involves recruitment of sororities, fraternities, offices, clubs, other sports teams as well as the surrounding outside community.
Our focus for this event is going to be on all the different therapies that the profession of Child Life utilizes in our field, including Play therapy, Art therapy, Music therapy, Humor therapy, and Pet therapy just to name a few.

Bulletin Boards!

The Psych-Child Life Bulletin Boards located in the basement of Hubbard Hall are in dire need of an update! During our usual club meeting time on Tuesday, October 6th, we are planning on brightening them up with lots of color and pictures to spread the word about our club :). Any pictures, ideas are more than welcome!

Notes from 9/29/09

T-Shirts

For our member shirts, we mutually agreed that we would have "Just Play" on the front with "Utica Psych Child-Life Society" on the back.
  • Fundraiser shirts- We are still trying to think of something creative to put on them. Think of phrases that are a play on words and incorporates play.

    Bulletin Boards

We will be decorating the bulletin boards in the basement of Hubbard Hall this Tuesday, October 6th.

  • Please bring any decorations you would like to hang up, or pictures from past Child-Life events. The more, the better!

Trips

In the past, the Child-Life Society has gone on trips that better our knowledge of Child-Life. For example, we went to the Strong National Museum of Play and Galisano's Children's Hospital in Rochester, NY.
  • We need ideas for possible trips so we can begin planning as soon as possible.
