Studying Mathematics: The UC Advantage

The mathematics program at Utica College focuses on providing students with a strong foundation in quantitative analysis - knowledge that can be applied in a broad variety of fields, including some of the nation's most innovative professions.

UC studentMathematics majors work with an exceptionally accomplished faculty and have access to advanced learning technology, as well as opportunities for collaborative research and achievement.
  • Each year the program fields a team in the Annual Putnam Mathematical Competition sponsored by the Mathematical Association of American (MAA).
  • The program also offers opportunities for undergraduates to present research conducted with the faculty at the Seaway Section meetings of the MAA, which are held twice a year.

Mathematics majors can choose either the general concentration or one for prospective mathematics teachers. Major course topics include:
  • calculus
  • probability and statistics
  • linear and abstract algebra
  • real analysis
...with major-related courses in physics and computer science. For specific program details, see academic requirements >
