DAY 1
DEPARTURE FROM J.F.K.

Overnight flight to the U.K. from New York’s J.F.K. airport

DAY 2
ARRIVE LONDON
Get oriented to one of the world’s great cities with a walking tour along the banks of River Thames, along the Strand, through Trafalgar Square, and to Covent Garden.

DAY 3
HYDE PARK- HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT - DICKENS WALKING TOUR
A sightseeing tour including Hyde Park (one of London’s largest parks), Speaker’s Corner (where anyone with something to say can speak his or her mind freely), the Houses of Parliament, past the Tower of London and London bridge, and a view of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Enjoy a Charles Dickens walking tour, learning about the author’s life and the places that inspired his most famous works.

DAY 4
LONDON THEATRE WORKSHOP 
Participate in a workshop at a London theatre, and take a backstage tour of the National Theatre. This evening we will attend the performance of a play in London’s famous West End.

DAY 5
OXFORD - BLENHEIM PALACE
Leave London to visit Oxford, home of the English-speaking world’s oldest University. Explore Christ Church College, one of the university’s largest, inspiration for authors including Evelyn Waugh and Lewis Carroll and site of filming for Harry Potter and The Golden Compass. Also visit Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.

DAY 6

STRATFORD - THEATRE PERFORMANCE
We take a guided tour of Stratford, birthplace of William Shakespeare. Visit the house where the Bard was born as well as Anne Hathaway Cottage, the farmhouse where Shakespeare’s wife spent her childhood. We will see a theatre performance tonight.

DAY 7
BATH - LONDON 
Visit Bath, famous for its Georgian architecture and as a vacation site for ancient Romans. From Bath, we return to London.

DAY 8
SHAKESPEARE'S LONDON
A local university professor will lead us on a guided tour of Shakespeare’s London. We will also tour the Globe Theatre, an exact replica of the building from Shakespeare’s time that will transport you back to Elizabethan England. The evening includes attending a play at the Globe.

DAYS 9 - 14

STUDY BY OWN ARRANGEMENT
Research, travel, and sightseeing on your own as research for your independent study. Optional group visits to sights in London during this period will include the
British Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Tate Modern Art Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum
, and
Natural History Museum
.

DAY 15
DEPARTURE FROM LONDON

Our enjoyable and rewarding tour will come to an end as we fly back to New York's J.F.K. airport.
