Utica College HOMECOMING Weekend

It’s that time of the semester again… Homecoming Weekend!!!

Are you ready for what is about to hit campus?
Who’s excited for the Weekend? If you’re not, let me remind you why you should be.

1. UC Set to Host Fisher for Coach to Cure MD Homecoming Game.

The Utica College football team returns home on Saturday for the Coach to Cure MD Homecoming Football game as the Pioneers take on the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher in Empire 8 Conference action.
The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium, and it is a part of the College’s Homecoming festivities.

2. Women’s Soccer vs. Alfred University

The Utica College soccer team also returns home Saturday, October 18 to face Alfred University. The game will be on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium as part of the College’s Homecoming festivities.

3. Edith Langley Barrett Fine Art Gallery Exhibit:

John Lyon Paul

This self-taught artist began to make sculptures at the same time he began to practice meditation in the 70s. These two practices, the receptive and the active, have informed his entire creative life and generated a large and innovative output of artworks. The master of many materials, John spends about equal time painting and sculpting in the solitude of the studio he built in the hills near Ithaca, NY. The event begins at 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18.

These are just few events going on this weekend. If you need more information, go to Utica College.

Here Comes Winter Again

I woke up today shivering in bed. I walked out my room and felt the cold floor beneath me. I took a glance at the thermostats and it read 58 degrees. Winter is on its way again, unfortunately. Here comes the 20 degree mornings with heavy snow on the ground. With winter coming, the days are getting shorter and the night is getting longer. I will give you an opinion on what I do in the winter.

  • Stay indoor during storms. This is number one. Throughout this winter, you will see many snowy days. Unless you have to go to class or really need to leave your dorm, stay inside. Your chances of getting sick is lowered if you’re inside.
  • Be careful when you do go outside. Wear some type of boots or anything with a sturdy bottom. Be very careful when you walk on ice or sleet. Do not run at at all.
  • If you have a car this would be my recommendation: Travel in the day and not at night through the snow. When you decide to travel, stay on the main roads and not the back roads. There’s usually more snow on back roads.
  • When you drive, make sure you have salt and a shovel in your trunk. When you do decide to park, you have something to get you out of the snow.
  • Make sure your car is working properly before the winter even starts. Make sure everything is functioning right.

These are my tips for winter. Have a safe winter.

Thanks UC

I am in my second year at Utica College now, and I notice a lot of changes about myself. Utica College has helped me grow into the person I am today. I have only been attending here for a year, and it has had a huge impact on the way I am now.

I was born and raised in the Bronx where I haven’t been the best person in the world. I notice ever since I’ve been up here attending school, my views have changed on many things. I notice the difference even when I go home. I notice the difference between my friends’ mentalities and my own.
Utica College has definitely changed me for the better. It has impacted me in every way. Whether it’s education or just me walking across the campus. The diversity here has helped me look at the world in a different view. Utica College has given me knowledge within the classroom and also outside of the classroom. I actually know what I want to do with my life now. I know exactly how I want my future to pan out. The only reason I could say that is because I attended Utica College. I look forward to the rest of my years here. I really appreciate the faculty, staff, and students here.

Thank You Utica College.

Hello Guys

Hello Guys,

How are you guys doing? My name is Yousouf, and I am a sophomore here UC. I was born and raised in the Bronx and attend Cardinal Hayes High School. I miss back home, but it is nice to get away from it sometimes. That is one of the reasons I decided to come to Utica College. I love playing all kinds of sports, listening to music and simply just relaxing.

As far as UC goes, I really enjoyed my first year here and I am glad to be back for another year. I am actually studying Computer Science here, but plan on changing  my major to Cybersecurity. After living in the dorms for a year, I live off campus now. Living off campus has its pros and cons for me. I don’t really enjoy it as much as living on campus, but I actually get to concentrate now. I focus more on my studies and procrastinate less. Unfortunately I don’t get to spend time with my friends anymore, the walk is about 30 minutes everyday from school, and I also don’t have a meal plan. It is something new that I am familiarizing myself with but I definitely will make the best of it.

I am currently new to this but will continue to blog consistently. I am looking forward to the rest of the year and have a blessed day.
