Accounts & Registration 

Please make sure you have the following completed BEFORE you arrive for orientation: 


Activate your Utica College Email, Banner Web/network accounts


(These accounts will use the same username and password. Banner Web is used for course registration, checking grades, and a number of other administrative functions.)  


Register for Courses

Log into Canvas


Canvas is Utica College's learning management system and where you will find your course content. You will not be able to activate your Canvas account until you have successfully registered for your first course. Shortly after you are registered (typically within 1 hour) you will receive an auto-generated e-mail to your Utica College email account. If you don't, be sure to check your SPAM folder. Your log-in information for Canvas is the same as your UC email username and password.

If you do not see your courses in Canvas chances are you have a payment discrepancy. Please visit the secure online payment site to make payment. 

4) Prepare Your Laptop 

Students are required to bring a laptop with a power cord to the orientation.  Please also have Microsoft Word installed on your laptop. 

We will provide internet access and IT support will be available during the orientation. Please download either Firefox or Internet Explorer as you will need to access Canvas through one of these browsers. Mac OSX users please download Firefox for Mac.  

The Help link before you log into Canvas, or on the top right of the screen will bring up a menu for technical support. From there, there is an opportunity to click links to “Get Assistance with your Course,” “Search the Canvas Guides,” “Report a Technical Issue,” call the “Canvas Support Hotline” at 855-495-9954, “Chat with Canvas Support,” and “Request a Feature.”
