Written by: Jessica Bates '20, PR Intern

On Saturday, Nov. 10, Utica College students Debra Born and Alexander Taylor will share their internship experiences for a chance to win up to $500 judge prize and $200 audience chosen prize at the CNY Internship Showcase.

The Central New York Career Development Association is hosting the event. It will be held at the SUNY Oswego Syracuse campus, beginning at 11 a.m.

This event will feature 20 contestants from eleven schools across the Central New York area who were selected to give 3-minute presentations about their internship experiences. The student who gives the best presentation will receive a $500 prize. Contestants also have a chance to win a $200 prize from an audience favorite vote. The event will also host Keynote speaker, Molly Matott, a meteorologist at CNY Central. Not only is this event an exciting contest, it is a chance for those in attendance to learn about internships and build their networks. Audience members and contestants will also receive a free lunch.

Born is a public relations major at UC who had the opportunity to intern for Oneida County Workforce Development. Taylor is a business economics major who had the opportunity to intern at Northwestern Mutual as a financial representative. Both students will give a presentation about their experiences at their internships and describe what they learned, how it was helpful, and what connections it made to their major and their future career goals.

Halina Lotyczewski, director of career services at UC, is also the president of the CNY Career Development Association.
