Utica College Hosts Annual Student Research Day

Students present the results of their research at a free and open to the public event
Utica, NY (04/22/2013)- What do protein DNA, the electoral college, silver nanoparticles and tobacco, product packaging, and bullfighting in Spain have in common?
Each of these topics and more will be discussed as Utica College students present the results of their research this Wednesday, April 24 at 2:30 p.m. in Donahue Auditorium, Gordon Science Center.
Alyssa Thomas, assistant professor of chemistry, will open the event and will introduce Dr. Judith Kirkpatrick, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, to make opening remarks. Dr. Thomas Crist, professor of physical therapy, will then give an opening talk. The presentations will be split into five concurrent sessions; a room schedule will be available at the event.
Within current literary and scientific themes, student research projects include Temperature Dependence of the Coefficient of Static Friction, Consumer Perceptions of Health Based on Packaging, Is The Salary Cap an Effective Promoter of Competitiveness in NBA? and How the Role of ‘Commander and Chief’ Expanded Presidential Power.
Dr. Alyssa Thomas, assistant professor of chemistry; Dr. Ashraf Elazzazi, associate professor of physical therapy; Dr. Luke Perry, associate professor of government and politics, and Dr. Ahmed Radwan, assistant professor of physical therapy, served on the Student Research committee.
The event is free and open to the public; there will be light refreshments available at the opening session.
