In the light of the recent events on the Utica College campus, the Professional Staff Advisory Council would like to make it clear that we do not support hate in any form. We embrace difference and encourage education on this topic. We will continue to work with the Administration and Faculty of Utica College to help grow, develop, and support kindness.

With situations like this, it’s easy to divide, sigh and shrug shoulders, and continue on our daily routine. We are encouraging you to take a stand! If you see something, say something. If you hear something, do something! Now is the time for kindness, now is the time for tolerance, and now is the time for love.

Around campus, there are plenty of resources for you. Feel free to reach out to the folks in Human Resources for professional support. Contact the Dean for Diversity and Inclusion for student support. Use each other to engage in healthy debate. Those areas are here to support you and our students.

In closing, there is so much negativity in the world today, let’s start making a change, right here, right now!

-PSAC Executive Committee

My name is Derek Pooley and I’m so extremely proud and honored to be the Professional Staff Advisory Council’s (PSAC) President! I have been a Utica College employee since 2012 and have enjoyed my time at UC a ton!

PSAC is rejuvenated and will be a strong presence around campus! I encourage all staff members to get involved with PSAC! If it’s joining a committee, being a part of our team of gardeners, or even simply attending the meetings we hold, you should get involved. Below are examples of some great things that you will be able to get involved in.

If you see something, do something! Employees at UC do amazing things! When you see those many amazing things, congratulate them by filling out a Kudo’s Card!

Have a Suggestion?  Fill out our Suggestion Form!  We are always looking for ways to make our college community better.

I have a huge amount of confidence in the other members of the Executive Committee, they are very dedicated to the campus community and are very invested in making UC the best place possible. Feel free to reach out to anyone of us at any point!

If you ever have any questions, comments or concerns feel free to contact me!
