UC To Honor December Degree Candidates


Annual Ceremony to Recognize 163 Bachelor's and Master's Candidates

Utica, NY (12/14/2005) - Utica College will host its December Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. in the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center. The annual event recognizes students who have completed their bachelor's and master's degree requirements mid-year.

Students participating in the reception will be individually recognized for their academic achievement by Utica College President Todd S. Hutton, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty Judith A. Kirkpatrick and Board of Trustees Chairperson Ronald A. Cuccaro ’66. In addition, Utica College senior Stephanie N. Burrows, Professor of Government and Politics Nathaniel I. Richmond and attorney Elizabeth B. Snyder ’97 will offer remarks to the candidates for degrees and guests. Burrows is a public relations and journalism major from Burt, N.Y. Richmond was the recipient of the 2005 Dr. Virgil Crisafulli Distinguished Teaching Award, which is presented each year to a UC professor who has demonstrated a record of outstanding teaching. Snyder is president of the National Alumni Council.

A total of 128 seniors are eligible to receive the December undergraduate degree, while 35 are eligible for the master's degree. Students who participate in the December ceremony will also be invited to participate in Utica College’s Commencement in May.

About Utica College – Founded in 1946, Utica College is a comprehensive private institution that grants the Syracuse University baccalaureate degree and the Utica College master’s and doctoral degrees. The College, located in central New York, approximately 90 miles west of Albany and 50 miles east of Syracuse, currently enrolls an approximated 2,300 undergraduate and 350 graduate students in 30 undergraduate majors, 24 minors, 12 master’s and two doctoral degree programs.
