UC to Host Workshop on Personal Finance for Parents
MV Center for Economic Education presents free seminar to help adults teach kids about money

Utica, NY (09/28/2005) - If you have children, you may have noticed that they think money grows on trees.To help parents teach their children the challenges of managing money, the Mohawk Valley Center for Economic Education at Utica College will host an educational workshop to help parents talk with their kids about personal finances. The workshop will cover savings, spending, credit, and money management.
Each workshop will focus on a distinct age group. The first, on Tuesday, Oct. 25, is for parents of kindergarten to fifth grade students, and the second, on Wednesday, Oct. 26, is for parents of sixth through twelfth graders. Both workshops will be held at 7 p.m. in the New Hall Conference Center at Utica College. Each workshop will last approximately an hour and a half and the first 30 participants will receive a copy of “Talking to Your Kids About Personal Finance, An Activity-Based Guide” and a copy of the “Financial Fitness for Life” CD.
These workshops are made possible by the National Council on Economic Education through funding from the Bank of America Foundation. They are free and open to the public, but seating and materials are limited. To register, please call the Office of Corporate and Professional Programs at Utica College at 792-3344.
